'Whitby Abbey'

It has long been an ambition of mine to make a satisfactory image of Whitby Abbey.

The Abbey dominates the bay, visible from almost all angles, most notably from the road from Pickering over the top of the North Yorkshire Moors, a view I experienced as a child and which still evokes strong memories and emotions.

This image is simply about a memorable abbey bathed in magnificent light.

Technical Details - Linhof Technikardan, 90mm lens. Velvia 50. Scanned with an Epson V700.
