My favourite genre of photography
'Curls of Grass'
These curls of grasses were hard to resist. The snow has transformed them from the ordinary to the extraordinary.
Technically, this was quite a challenge as there was a big wind and it was still snowing heavily. I had to position myself pointing down wind (horizontal snow is as bad as horizontal rain) and I used a 'saver' filter on the lens which I removed at the last moment.
I knew the grasses at the top were moving, so I simply let them blur with a longer shutter speed. It was bitterly cold and the cup of warming tea back at the hotel a short while later was most welcome.
Technical Details: Linhof Technikardan, 240mm lens, Provia 100, no filtration.
