Alchemy
Sometimes a picture is just a little more than the sum of its parts.
'Ice falls'
I made this image on a trip to Scotland in February 2010. The winter 09/10 was one of the coldest for many years and the ice in Glen Etive where this image was made was quite spectacular.
I made several conventional images of ice and pebble details but this image represented something that is coming closer to how I am developing my photography - it has overtones of abstract expressionism. I certainly enjoyed finding it and making it.
Technically it was a very challenging image at twice life size and I utilised techniques I had developed at my playground at Skipwith a few weeks earlier to make the image successfully (setup, focus and exposure).
Technical Details: Linhof Technikardan, 150mm lens, Provia 100. No filtration.
