More Skipwith Experimentation
12 April, 2010
A few weeks ago I got a couple of hours out again at my favourite local photographic playground Skipwith. I have been working on re-visiting the same location repeatedly to encourage me to explore the photographic potential of one place and spur me into innovation and new ideas.
This time I explored a couple of trees I have had my eye on for some time. The first image (above) is a different way I found of showing the tree and its surrounding landscape. The light was bright, around the middle of the day - hardly traditional or ideal - and I waited to get a burst of strong light on the tree with more diffuse light behind. Different, if perhaps not altogether successful, and I am sure it will spur me on to additional ideas.
The second image was a detail of the roots of an uprooted tree that I couldn't resist. Quite an interesting subject and a very satisfying result.
