The sand moves. Or rather its level. This was a fact I had not fully appreciated until I couldn't find this rock again at Robin Hoods Bay on a subsequent visit.
Not for the first time, I had agonised about which of the various elements of the scene I wanted in the image. The sand, in particular, made me think long and hard. In the end, the decision to incluide it paid off. It serves to remind one that this rock spends a many months of the year buried under several feet of sand.
