This image was made on trip to the Lake District just before Christmas with my father. We spent a great day driving down the Duddon Valley stopping at various points to make pictures.
The picture was made in the fading light. I was attracted to the clump of trees by their amazing colour, but it was the tree bases in the water surrounded by foam that fascinated me.
F33 1/3 was necessary to help handle the huge focussing challenge which meant an exposure of a minute or so.
I love the balance in the image and the subtle quality of light that has been rendered via Provia.
Technical details: Linhof Technikardan, 240mm lens, Provia 100, no filtration.
