This is the second satisfactory image that I have managed in this particular stretch of Glen Etive valley and it is even more surprising to me because it was made in the middle of the day.
I love the subtle lighting from the dappled shadowed foreground which I think adds considerably more depth to the image.
The subtle variations of white snow in the different lighting as you move towards the back of the image was possible because it was was captured on 5x4 colour negative film rather than the more usual transparency film. This was to ensure the image could cope with more than 7 stops of dynamic range. The other benefit was not needing to use a graduated filter.
Technical Details: Linhof Technikardan, 90mm lens, colour negative film, no filtration.
Location: Glen Etive, Scotland
