These trees are at one of my favourite locations in the wolds near Bishop Wilton. Coming at the end of a very long session, and with it being midday and bright sunlight, I was begining to think that I had finished my photography for the morning. However I spotted the potential of this image looking upwards into the tree canopy.
Technically, it was one of the more difficult images to expose correctly, involving big movements which required a graduated filter to compensate for the light fall off and polarisation. A pleasing result. Finding ways to make a strong image in the harshest of lights is an interesting challenge.
Technical Details: Linhof Technikardan, 450mm lens, 1 stop graduated filter, polarisation. Velvia 50.
