It may have become a cliche to photograph the harbour at Whitby and it is certainly not a taxing or creative composition, yet sometimes as a photographer it is right to simply celebrate a place that means a lot personally.
I first saw this sight on a school trip in the 1970s and it remains a favourite place. It was no hardship to setup, the conditions were nice and it was a pleasant evening in the company of a great friend. At the end of a long photographic day when I had managed several creative and rewarding new compositions, placing a memory like this onto film is worth much more than the price of film.
